Ingredients

Slow-Cooker Ham
  • 6–8 lb bone-in spiral sliced ham small enough to fit in a slow cooker
  • 1/2 cup honey 170 g
  • 1/4 cup salted butter 57 g, melted
Brown Sugar Glaze
  • 1 cup brown sugar 200 g
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1/2 cup water 120 ml

Method

Slow-Cooker Ham
  1. Put the 6–8 lb bone-in spiral sliced ham into the slow cooker. In a saucepan on the stove or in the microwave, melt 1/4 cup (57 g) butter and 1/2 cup (170 g) honey, then pour the mixture over the ham.
  2. Cover and cook on low for 3–4 hours. During the last 15 minutes, line a baking sheet with foil.
Brown Sugar Glaze
  1. During the last 30 minutes, make the glaze: in a saucepan, combine 1 cup (200 g) brown sugar, 1 tsp onion powder, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp ground black pepper, 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg, and 1/4 tsp ground cloves with 1/2 cup (120 ml) water. Heat for 30 seconds until the sugar dissolves.
  2. Preheat the oven to the broil setting. Place the ham on the prepared baking sheet and brush half of the brown sugar glaze over it. Broil for 1–2 minutes until the sugar caramelizes, then remove from the oven.
  3. Brush the ham with the remaining brown sugar glaze. If the glaze is too thick, stir in 1–2 Tbsp water to loosen it. Serve.
