Ingredients

  • 2 to 3 varieties of cheese for example cheddar, brie, gouda, or manchego
  • 2 to 3 varieties of sliced cured meats for example turkey salami, turkey pepperoni, or roasted chicken slices
  • fresh fruit for example grapes, strawberries, figs, or apple slices
  • dried fruit for example apricots, cherries, or dates
  • crunchy crackers, breadsticks, or sliced baguette
  • 1 to 2 dips for example hummus, honey, mustard, or fruit jam
  • briny extras for example olives, pickles, or marinated peppers
  • fresh herbs, nuts, or edible flowers for garnish

Method

  1. Choose a large wooden board, platter, or serving tray. A flat surface with a little room to spread out makes arranging everything much easier.
  2. Place the cheese pieces and small bowls of dip on the board first. These anchor the layout and help you plan the rest of the arrangement.
  3. Fold or roll the sliced meats and tuck them beside the cheese. Then place crackers and breadsticks in small clusters so guests can grab them easily.
  4. Add fresh fruit, dried fruit, olives, nuts, and any other small bites you like. Fill the gaps so the board looks abundant without feeling crowded.
  5. Tuck in fresh herbs or a few pretty accents at the end. A little garnish goes a long way in making the board feel special.
